Team Sprachschule Essen!

Nicholle
Teacher
I’m a native Long-Islander who joined the WSI Essen team in August 2009. I was teaching in Essen and working on finishing my "Ausbildung" as an English Teacher for the Volkshochschule in North Rhine Westphalia when I took on the Service Manager position in January 2011.
I’ve been living in Germany since 2003. Since then, I’ve been trying to finish my Arts degree at Empire State College and travel around Europe as much as possible. I love being active. In my free time, I enjoy meeting new people, going to a good concert, playing roller derby, and spending time with friends.
I’m really excited about meeting you in the center. I hope you come in and bring a friend along to some of our activities…

Eva
Teacher
Eva was born in a small and beautiful city called Moers. At the age of sixteen, her family decided to move to the beautiful Queen City of North Carolina, Charlotte, in the USA. Here she went to study English and Philosophy at the University of Charlotte, after getting her High School Diploma. Now she is back in Germany finishing up her degree in English Literature, American History and Philosophy at the University of Essen.
After teaching at the university, she decided to come and teach here at WSI Essen and help student learn and enjoy English.
Outside of Wall Street she enjoys taking walks with the dog, hanging out with her roommates and visiting her friends from all over the world.

Antje
Personal Tutor
Antje, originally from the Berlin area, decided to explore the world after finishing her Abitur and started an apprenticeship in hotel management. After living and working in various cities in Germany, it was time for a change and she moved to Florida for 18 months to work in a big chain hotel there.
After her return, she decided to switch jobs and started working as a Personal Tutor for WSI in June 2007. Another job change came along and she is now a Corporate Service Assistant, helping and assisting all students who get their classes in their companies by making schedules, planning their course and –most importantly– reaching their goal.
If she is not working, she enjoys sewing, cooking and watching movies.

Marta
Personal Tutor
Marta was born in the metropolitan city of São Paulo, Brazil and lived there with her family until 2006. After graduating in Hotel Management, she decided to travel to England to attend a Trainee Program in her area which combined English classes with work. She got a work placement in a hotel in Scotland where she met her then future / now husband. By the end of the training she decided to move with him to Essen and she began learning the German language in 2008.
After one year attending a German course Marta started working in the restaurant business where she made a lot of friends and learned a lot. But she had bigger ambitions for her future and decided to take a course in translation to expand her options. When she saw the opportunity to work at WSI she didn’t think twice, it seemed right to work next to one of her biggest passions: the English language.
Her other passions are her family, her dogs, listening to music as well as going to concerts, crafting and staying at home to watch a good movie with popcorn.

Jörg
Senior Language Consultant
After successfully working as a branch manager in wholesale, Jörg woke up one morning thinking he needed a break from his regular job. That's why he took one year's holiday to work as a sailing skipper all over the world. A fascinating experience, but also one that left him with the nagging feeling that his English still left much to be desired. As soon as he got back to his home in the Ruhrgebeit, he began tackling his English project with the help of the WSI School in Essen. He enjoyed this experience so much that he applied for the position of language consultant and our centre in Dortmund was lucky enough to get him. He has been with WSI Essen since 2007.
Jörg speaks three languages: German, English and Ruhrpott!

Dorothy
Personal Tutor
Dorothy grew up in Halesowen, a town on the outskirts of Birmingham, England. After college she carried on studying German at Aston University and after finishing her degree she also completed an MA in Translation. She loves languages and is always interested to learn new words!
As part of her first degree she spent a year teaching English in a high school in Essen and, having always loved Germany, since then she vowed to return for good, and did so in 2011.
She loves to travel, see new places and experience new cultures. Her second favourite country after Germany is Ghana. In her spare time she likes to watch foreign films, try different German beers and read, particularly investigative journalism.
Dorothy is very friendly, likes getting to know new people and is here to help you with anything on your language-learning journey.

Stefan
Corporate Sales Manager
Hi, I'm Stefan and I am responsible for our corporate clients in Dortmund and Essen. I have been with WSI since September 2007. I started as Personal Tutor and Teacher at WSI Essen to then take up the position of Service Manager in Dortmund. I have been in my new position as Corporate Sales Manager since January 2011. I studied English, American and Comparative Literature in Bochum. Before that I worked in numerous jobs both in Germany and the UK. Although my working life keeps me very busy, I still try to devote enough time to my interests, such as my family, football (Manchester United and VFL Bochum), music (northern soul, mod and punk), contemporary literature and all things connected to England and Manchester in particular. I look forward to meeting you and finding a tailor-made training solution for your company.

Adele
Service Manager
Adele grew up in the quiet and picturesque village of Dalton-Le-Dale in the north-east of England. After finishing school, she moved away to the city of Hull where she studied German. Part of her degree included a year abroad and she was sent to Hagen where she worked as an English language assistant.
She enjoyed her time in Germany so much that she decided to move back after finishing university. Adele landed in the middle of the Ruhrgebiet, Bochum and has been living there ever since.
She has been an English teacher sine 2000 and joined the WSI Essen team in 2008. Since 2009 she has been Service Manager, looking after all our students' needs and helping them reach their personal goals.
In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family and relaxing in the garden with a good (English!) book.

Kanchan
Teacher
Kanchan was born and brought up in the most happening and lively metropolitan city, New Delhi, the capital city of INDIA. After finishing her Bachelor's in English Literature from the University of Delhi, she did her Bachelors in Education and was absorbed by the most renowned schools in India, Delhi Public School, R. K. Puram.
She worked there as an English Teacher for eight years. Alongside, she was editing a kids' magazine which was published fortnightly. She has also successfully conducted workshops for primary school teachers sharing her teaching experiences and methodology. She values individuality, and strives to meet the needs of each learner.
She came to Germany in December 2008. She has been working with WSI since August 2009 and is having a great time teaching and enjoys organizing different social evenings for the students. When she is not working, she is listening to music, practicing jazz , trying out new recipes and socializing with her friends. She loves to play badminton and going for long walks. She was thrilled and taken by surprise to know some of her students are big fans of Bollywood movies and Shah Rukh Khan.

Sebastian
Personal Tutor
Sebastian was born and raised in the picturesque city of Marburg. After graduating from grammar school, he moved to the Ruhr area to commence his studies in English and History at the University of Duisburg-Essen to become a secondary level school teacher.
Having spent time in Great Britain during several childhood holiday trips, he eventually fell in love with the country, its people and the English language when studying English in Lancaster for six months. In 2009, Sebastian took on the challenge to teach German to English students on a five-week placement at a sixth form college in Darlington.
In his spare time, he enjoys ballroom dancing, travelling, drama group acting, and going to the theatre from time to time. Sebastian joined the WSI team in autumn 2010 and highly appreciates the friendly atmosphere in the centre. He is looking forward to supporting students on their way to learn English.

Jenny
Personal Tutor
Jenny grew up in a very anglophile family, as her mother used to live in Surrey (GB) for a few years. Therefore she appreciated the English way of living and spent most of her holidays in the UK. After she passed her ‘A’ levels she studied archaeology and history at the Ruhr-Universität-Bochum and gained a Master of Arts. She worked as an archaeologist for about a year when she decided that something in her life was missing. So she enrolled at the University of Dortmund in order to study English and become a secondary-school teacher.
Jenny joined the Wall Street Institute in October 2011 and is looking forward to helping you to achieve your goal.
In her free time she enjoys watching football, reading a good book and spending as much time in the UK as possible.

Chris
Teacher
Chris was born in Cambridge but grew up in the less reputable town of Haverhill in the east of England. After finishing school, he worked hard as a data analyst to earn enough pennies to go on the holiday of a lifetime, going from Hong Kong to Sydney to the Cook Islands, in a year without work. A few years after his exhausting holiday, Chris decided to come and live in the Ruhrgebiet, where he learned "wat ist dat" and other helpful phrases. Chris has been teaching English for three years and joined WSI Essen in early 2009. In his free time, Chris watched Manchester United, drinks way too much Coca-Cola and tries to still travel.
