Welcome to Wall Street Institute

Team Berlin Schönhauser Allee!

Andy
Andy
Teacher

I'm a proud Englishman, and Yorkshireman. So proud in fact that in 2004 I decided I had to go global, become an English Teacher and spread the word. Like most typical Yorkshire blokes I like tea, beer, football and marmite, often in combination. More recently, I have become a news and documentary junkie, and an even greater admirer of Noam Chomsky, who seems to write books faster than I can read them. Suggested topics for conversation would include music and film, although be warned, I can go on. How does one man have time for so many interests? you ask. Insomnia and procrastination, I reply. Pop in and see how long it takes me to turn the conversation into one of the above. oh nearly forgot, I can also do sums.

Christin
Center Director

Hello, my name is Christin. I came to Berlin in 1998 and I have been working at Wall Street Institute since 2007 and became the Center Director in 2012. Since the beginning I’ve learned how to encourage people to learn English and how to help when it gets too difficult. I enjoy being there for our customers and seeing their progress! I believe that our international work environment helps everyone to learn English the easy way, so come and join us in our English speaking world. See you in the center!

Evan
Evan
Service Manager

Hi, I’m Evan. I was born into a missionary family in Zimbabwe. I came back to the USA and moved later to the family farm in Pennsylvania, but recognizing my need for a more thrilling night life, I relocated from the countryside to Boston, Massachusetts. Due to the shrinking population in Germany, and of course love (!), I moved with my German partner to the beautiful city of Wuppertal in 2001. After 7 wonderful years, we decided to try Berlin for a change. Even though I have a degree in Chemical Engineering, Ive had many other jobs before coming to work for Wall Street Institute. Besides spending my time in the kitchen, baking my now-famous Banana Bread and pancakes, I enjoy visiting the in-laws in Schleswig-Holstein with my better half. Sitting on my couch, I like to relax while watching "The Simpsons" and "Desperate Housewives". And I dream one day of owning a six-pack of pugs...

Hi, my names Marie-Luise and I’m originally from Berlin. After spending quite a while abroad working as both a travel agent and neo-natal nurse, I came back to Berlin looking for an English-speaking oasis and found one here at the Wall Street Institute. I have a great passion for the English-language...let me share that with you.

Hello, I’m Elke.  I’m actually not sure how it all began, but somehow I’ve always been obsessed with the English language and English speaking countries – right up until now!
I lived in the north of Germany for a couple of years and got my university degree in English and Physical Education.  Due to living in New Zealand for a year and travelling in Australia for 10 months as well as countless trips to the UK, my passion for English grew even bigger.
After six years of living all over the world, I decided that it was finally time to move back to my hometown of Berlin.
Working at WSI, I get to share my love for the English language with students and colleagues every day. Let me share with you too! :-)

Personal Tutor

Hello, my name is Vera. I’ve lived in Berlin all my life except for two big breaks. For the big one, I took ten months to go to the USA as an exchange student. The other break I took last year when I left Berlin to do a three-month internship in Belgium. I really like speaking foreign languages and that is basically why I decided to become a commercial assistant specialized in...well, languages! One big advantage of understanding other languages is being able to watch films in the original voice. Even though they do a good job translating, the dubbed ones are never as good as the originals. Believe me.

Karo
Language Consultant

Hi everybody! I´m Karo from Vienna. Some years ago, I decided to explore the world a bit more: besides travelling around the world, I moved to Dubai for 2 years. Without English I wouldn’t have had so many amazing experiences and created close friendships in all corners of this world. In the summer of 2011, I moved to crazy Berlin. I was looking for a professional and well-known English school, to share my passion for new cultures and international people. I found it here at Wall Street Institute on Schönhauser Allee and I’m happy to keep it like Charlie Chaplin: "The most wasted day in life is the day in which one has not laughed..."
So let’s have a laugh together and take your chance to have a great time with us!

I was born and still live here in Berlin, although I grew up with two very different cultures: German and South American. And I was lucky enough to get to know the North American culture during the year I spent as a high school student in Seattle. I love to travel and getting to know new people; working at the Wall Street gives me the opportunity to share my passion for English with others. So if you have any questions, or would just like to have a little chat in English, I’m here to listen!

Teacher

Being a typical New Zealander, I have spent almost half my life living outside New Zealand. I trained in customer service and have worked in large companies in this area as well as in training. I worked for Wall Street Institute Hamburg in 2002 and am now working in Berlin as a Teacher.

Hi, I’m Andrea, and I’m an original Berliner! I’ve been working for WSI since the summer of 2003, and beforehand, I worked in travel and tourism. Although I’ve spent most of my life in Berlin, I really love languages! In addition to English, I’ve studied Spanish (I lived in Fuerteventura for two years!), French and Latin. In my experience, the ability to communicate in a foreign language is invaluable...and English is, after all, the lingua franca of the business world! Looking forward to seeing you soon!

Eleanor
Teacher

I was born in Nottingham (which you may know as the home of Robin Hood!) in the UK, and grew up just outside a tiny countryside village about a twenty-minute drive from the city. I studied French at the University of Warwick, and have somehow ended up teaching English as a foreign language in Germany! Actually, I came to Germany in 2005 after finishing my studies, as I wanted to improve my German, which I had learned at school before going to university. I lived in Hamburg for two and a half years before making the move to the wonderful city of Berlin in 2008. My love of foreign languages also led me to the point I am at now, where I have discovered how much I can enjoy helping others to learn my own language, too. Hopefully, I’ll see you soon at the centre in Prenzlauer Berg!

Alexandra
Teacher

Hi! My name is Alex and I'm originally from a small town on Vancouver Island in Canada. I've been living in Germany off and on since 2006, and in the colourfully grey city of Berlin since 2009. I enjoy learning about different cultures, travelling, listening to europop, and teaching Berliners the subtle beauty of the Canadian accent.
